Since February 2025, I’ve been involved with DesignLab in two exciting roles: first as a Dreamteamer and then as a Techteamer. DesignLab is an innovative space where students can work on interdisciplinary projects, explore new technologies, and bring their creative ideas to life.
As a Dreamteamer, I help manage the DesignLab space and support students in their projects. This role has allowed me to collaborate on a variety of interdisciplinary initiatives, contributing to projects that aim to shape the future in fields ranging from engineering to design.
In my role as a Techteamer, I focus on the technical side of DesignLab. I’m responsible for supporting the workshops (mechanical, electrical, textile and digital) and assisting students with machines like laser cutters, 3D printers, and other fabrication tools. When students are working on their projects, I help troubleshoot, guide them through the equipment, and ensure their ideas can be realized safely and effectively. During quieter moments, I also get the opportunity to explore my own technical experiments and learn new skills, which makes the role both fun and educational. Additionally, we are encouraged to improve the DesignLab space every time you are on shift.
Being part of DesignLab has given me hands-on experience with advanced fabrication technologies, strengthened my problem-solving and teaching skills, and provided a unique insight into how interdisciplinary collaboration can drive innovation.
